In 2020 Swan Lake Association Director Mike Oja and Committee Member Rick Nosan began working with the Minnesota DNR to devise a Walleye spawning riffle to be built in Hay Creek. The construction of the riffle would be funded by a contribution from Swan Lake Association and a grant from the DNR, that was available as a result of O'Brien Creek, the historic Walleye spawning grounds, having been compromised by mining.  The project was finally executed in the Fall of 2023. The below pictures are of the riffle construction. You will also find a link to a drone video. Spring of 2024 will be the first opportunity for fish to use the riffle!
