Beaver Control
If you are having problems with beaver causing damage on your property, according to Mark Spoden with the DNR, your choices are simple.
-
You are allowed to trap or shoot beavers on your property without a permit but they are required to notify the DNR first.
-
A permit is required to trap on public property
-
A permit is required to destroy a beaver dam. But if you don’t get rid of the beavers first they will rebuild it. When destroying a dam it is recommended that you do it over the course of a few days to minimize the resultant increase in flow
Permits are not hard to get and the DNR can provide a list of ‘Nuisance Beaver Trappers’ for hire if needed.

Beavers are good for the environment and unless doing damage should be left alone.
