Swan Lake SeweR Project

Lone Pine Township is engaged in a project to bring a municipal sewer system around Swan Lake. The Swan Lake Association is not directly involved in this project. This page is here to provide information to you.

We were advised that the 2025 legislative funding did not include any funding for this project. The application process is already underway for the 2026 session, and we were advised an application will be filed for this project.

The February 2024 Sewer update is that the East Itasca Joint Sewer Board (the board) project funding is on track. The board met with the Minnesota House and Senate Capital Investment members last fall. The total project cost is estimated to be $9.2 million. The board is seeking state bonding dollars to fund the construction. This is a bonding year at the state legislature.

Currently, an engineering firm is doing a boring project around the lake to assess what type of ground will be encountered when excavating for the installation of the main wastewater collection piping. We received a grant from IRRR to pay for this project.

Our engineering firm JPJ Engineering of Hibbing is doing the final design work for the system.

We will have a funding determination at the end of legislative session at the end of May this year. If not successful, we will pursue funding next legislative session.

If successful, we will seek community support to proceed with the project. Property owners in Lone Pine Township will make this decision by vote. We will not pursue a vote until funding is in place.
