aquatic Invasive Species
Itasca Soil and Water District AIS Reports
Below, you will find a link to the AIS Reports from 2019 to present.
Curly Leaf Pondweed
Swan Lake currently has this invasive species and it is widespread in the West Bay. Importantly it is right by the boat launch
In order to help prevent it from spreading to the rest of the lake, before you go under the bridge, please reverse your engine to get any weeds off your propeller

The following invasive species are not in our lake. If you think you have found an AIS sample in Swan Lake, please report t to the Itasca County AIS Hotline at 218-256-4243 or call the DNR Region AIS Specialist at 218-328-8821. Click on the pictures below to learn more about these invaders!
Zebra Mussels
Starry Stonewort
Spiny Waterflea
See maps and lists of lakes that already have infestations at the Itasca Soil and Waters website:

Our goal is to contain the Curly Leaf and prevent the introduction of other species. If we identify any new species early, we may be able to contain it while Scientists develop solutions!
The below is an example of Clasping-leaf pondweed which is a native species and not invasive
